With any luck, this is as disassembled as it’s going to get. The frozen rear drum has been split in two, and now everything seems to be moving freely (except for the drum mechanism itself which is going to need some brute force recalibration). Pretty much all of the cables need to be replaced and the tires and chain are shot, plus I’m trying to get my hands on some cafe-style handlebars for it because I’m a cliche, but from here on out it’s just buying parts and sticking them on. Maybe it’ll actually be running by summer.

I once accidentally a 125cc engine into a Cub. Accidentally is the best way to small Honda.

What’s your master plan? The Trail 70-110cc were pretty boss little bikes as is. (I appreciate anything with 2 wheels and the same number of strokes)

Bad news, it’s a 4 stroke!

Right now my plan is to get it street legal. I need to swap out the rear springs & struts for something a bit more suited for an adult, and I’m going to get a seat that’s housed fewer mice, plus the aforementioned cafe handlebars. Other than that,I like the patina, so I’m going to pretty much going to leave it as-is.

It’s funny how that works, one moment you’re on the couch watching TV and the next thing you know you’re greasy and there’s Honda parts everywhere.

A cub would be a fantastic engine swap candidate, I bet that thing was a blast
